Conference on deep burial of nuclear waste

IESF Hauts-de-France and SFEN (Société Française de l'Energie Nucléaire) are organizing a conference on the deep burial of nuclear waste, led by Julien BOZZOLO.

The conference will focus on the CIGEO project, Industrial Center for Geological Disposal, designed to store the long-lived, highly radioactive waste produced by all current nuclear facilities. The CIGEO project has been entrusted to ANDRA (Agence nationale pour la gestion des déchets radioactifs), a public body.

The speaker: Julien BOZZOLO, is a graduate of ENSTA (class of 2007).

He has been working at ANDRA since 2015 and is in charge of the networks and command control department within the engineering division.

He is deputy to the project manager in charge of managing the system project management team, responsible for carrying out the preliminary and detailed design studies for CIGEO.

The speaker will address the following points in turn:

• the three research avenues
• the choice of deep disposal,
• research conducted at the underground laboratory,
• site selection, inventory of waste destined for CIGEO,
• operation of future facilities,
• safety, reversibility, costs
• an international overview. The presentation will be followed by your questions.
