Artificial Intelligence: understanding it for better use!
With the club numérique en mouvement
By Philippe DECOTTIGNIES (SUPELEC 1988), CEO of NEURONYS.
3 years ago, hardly a week went by without talk of Artificial Intelligence and the fear it engendered: would it replace man? Even if the fashion effect relayed by journalists has all but disappeared, AI has well and truly become part of our daily lives: our identification on photographs posted on Instagram or Facebook, the films or series Netflix offers us, the songs or artists Spotify recommends to us, the connected speakers we use on a daily basis: Siri, Alexa ... A good number of Artificial Intelligence services are now available off-the-shelf from GAFAM (or their Asian equivalents). Integrating Artificial Intelligence into business processes has never been easier!
Over the course of 30 minutes, Philippe will explain why Artificial Intelligence is so popular today, even though the term itself was coined in 1956. Without getting too technical, he'll explain what data it needs to function, and what you can expect as a result. To illustrate his point, Philippe will give a number of demonstrations of off-the-shelf AI services available in the Cloud.
Philippe DECOTTIGNIES
After graduating from SUPELEC with an engineering degree in Networks & Telecoms, he began his career in Hewlett-Packard's Labs in Grenoble. After 7 years at HP, he joined several American companies before creating his first start-up in 2002.
With over 33 years' experience in the digital sector, Philippe has seen the emergence and evolution of the Internet and mobile networks, and all the value-added services they have enabled, such as online music distribution. This sector generates an enormous amount of data to process, and it was natural that Philippe turned to Big Data, and then to Artificial Intelligence, to make the most of these torrents of data and transform them into usable information.
Since 2018, he has been CEO of NEURONYS, a startup based in Hauts de France specializing in automatic natural language processing (NLP), a branch of artificial intelligence. NEURONYS develops NOLEJ, an AI-powered authoring tool for transforming static course material into a truly interactive course, with numerous automatically-generated learning activities.
