[CLUB] Launch of the "digital in motion" professional club

Organised by "Digital Club in Motion"

On the program for the launch evening:

A presentation of the 2 club leaders

  • Virtual testing in the automotive world: how can the digital transformation of physical and digital testing enable the automotive industry to reduce development costs, time-to-market and improve quality ? Jean-Christophe LAMODIERE(HEI engineer, 2000),Global Key Account Director (BtoB) AVL

Digital isn't just for tech companies, it's also having a massive impact on industry. From the service sector (banks, etc.) to the "heavier" automotive industry.

In a fifteen-minute talk, Jean-Christophe will illustrate the impact of digital technology on this industry undergoing profound change. The topics are potentially numerous (Autonomous vehicle, connectivity, Factory 4.0, Big data, ....) and may be the subject of subsequent presentations.

This first talk will focus on "Virtual Testing", i.e. the use of real-time digital models in so-called "mechanical" test benches for combustion engines. The technological complexity will be highlighted, but also and above all the necessary convergence of professions that historically belonged to two distinct worlds: real-world testing and pure simulation.

We'll see that these new development processes require a change in mentality and the de-siloing of organizations, aspects to be taken very seriously when it comes to digital transformation. The expected benefits are numerous: shorter development times (time-to-market), better diversity management, lower costs.

  • Virtualizing professional training with virtual reality: Pierre LEFEBVRE (HEI Engineer, 2008), Chairman and CEO of BetterCallDave

Training reform, lifelong learning and jobs in short supply are all driving the development of more effective, economical and accessible training tools.

Technological innovations are enabling us to create new uses, such as VR training.

Virtual reality training is currently the best tool, both in terms of learning performance and ease of deployment.

It also meets today's health, global and ecological challenges.

Pierre Lefebvre, ITI class of 2008.

After a career in digital communications agencies, ESNs and pure players, in 2018 he created an IT services company: BetterCallDave.
BetterCallDave is all about positive digital innovation, giving your ideas even more meaning, impact and efficiency.

We support our customers with two offerings: Dev4Better & Dev4Music.

With the first, BCD works with them on virtual reality, artificial intelligence and application development projects that make sense for people!
With the second, they deploy their expertise in the online music sector to develop services ranging from music catalog broadcasting to skills for connected speakers.

He is also CTO of Invest History, a company that helps entrepreneurs architect their founding story and enables them to live-pitcher it on its platform.

He also teaches mobile programming at HEI 4.

Jean-Christophe LAMODIERE, class of 2000

After graduating from HEI in 2000 with a degree in Powertrain Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, he began his career in the automotive world, to which he has remained faithful ever since. He has been an active member of the SIA (Société des Ingénieurs de l'Automobile) for some fifteen years.

After working in design offices (combustion engines) in various countries, he joined the FIEV, a professional federation and networking hub.

After obtaining an Executive MBA, he moved into management and international trade, holding various management positions with the Swiss company Kistler, and for the past 4 years with AVL as Global Account Director, an Austrian company that supports automotive players in the development of powertrains and autonomous vehicles.

This period will see the emergence of digital technology even in test benches - so-called "industrial" testing methods - involving upheavals in historical processes and mentalities, which have been virtually unchanged for half a century.
