Visit to the early aviation museum - Douzy
Jean-Michel Dubois (1970) and HEI ALUMNI invite you to visit the museum of early aviation on Tuesday October 8 in Douzy.
Jean-Michel will show you
- Roger Sommer's Biplane (1910), reconstructed in life-size on the initiative of his son Pierre, after four years of hard work and almost 5,000 hours of research, drawings and construction.
- a biography of Roger Sommer, aviation pioneer, pilot and builder from 1908 to 1912, and world record holder for flight time, a feat achieved on August 07, 1909 at the Châlons-sur-Marne (now Châlons-en-Champagne) airfield,
- numerous photographic documents from Mr. Pierre Sommer's personal collection, illustrating the variety of different types of aeroplane built and marketed by Roger Sommer from 1910 to 1912, various ¼-scale models,
- a large collection of postcards of the period, featuring the main pilots who took part in the many international air meetings held during the early days of aviation.
Continue the evening with a cocktail reception at the Aréna bar (13 Place du 11 Novembre 1918)!
